Emily, Tuesday 14.12.10

I woke up this morning to find that Cat had ripped the hell of out all of the towels in the bathroom. He's making horrible noises, like he's dying or something. If he keeps this up, I'll put him up in the attic with the thing.

I tried my birthday on the briefcase, it was a long shot. The thing has a timer on it, so I can only try four codes ever hour. I've scribbled every combination that I've tried so far onto a piece of paper, which I've attached to the fridge so that I remember to try again later.

And then I went to the shop to see if I could talk to David again. Unfortunately, I bumped into Charlie, my ex-boyfriend. He asked me if I was seeing anyone and I lied and said that I was. The sooner he gets over me, the better. It's been four years, for crying out loud. It was really awkward seeing him after all this time. I wonder why I went out with him in the first place. He certainly isn't my type, tall and rugged and stupid. Also, he's grown a beard which makes him look like a plonker. No one under twenty five should grow a beard on purpose. Beards are for sailors and Santa.

Speaking of Santa, when I got back from the shop (no David, I'm afraid) I found a Christmas present on my doorstep. It's addressed to me but I have no idea who it's from. Maybe it's from David?

This afternoon, I finally got around to finishing off clearing out William's dad's old tool shed. I started tidying it on the day I shot Molly, remember? Well, it turns out that my brother's father had even more interesting items in that old shed (besides the shotgun - which I've put in a safe place, just like you said). I found a truck full of strange trinkets, all of them silver, and a carton of cigarettes. I've decided to take up smoking, what the hell, you only live once, right? You should of seen old Mrs Tate's face when I lit one up in the back garden!

In the evening, I mapped out a list of possible places to take Photos on Saturday. I think I'll go down the lake at sunset and see if I can get a picture of the sun reflected in the water. Maybe I'll take the camera to the staff party…

Any ideas what the code to the briefcase might be, Mark? Did you find a briefcase when…you know?

Doesn't matter if you didn't.

I'll talk to you tomorrow.
