The old house was exactly the way I remembered it, apart from the thick layer of dust that now covers all of the surfaces. I didn't want to touch anything, to give anyone any indication that I had returned, so I went straight up the stairs to my father's study, touching only the door handles along the way.

The study, however, was not how I had left it. Paper work covered the floor, desk drawers were left wide open and the bookcases had been cleared out entirely. I immediately ran over to the red rug in front of the fireplace, lifted it and removed the floorboards, under which Harrison, Dicky, Emily and I had hidden our note books. Whoever had invaded my home, searching for something, had missed the treasure chest entirely. I placed the notebooks into my backpack and decided to explore the rest of the house for hints of disruption.

In the kitchen, I found exactly what I expected to find: a briefcase, identical to the one that Emily had found. Whoever is following her, whoever put the briefcase under her mother's bed, knows what we know.

When I got back to the Half Moon Inn, I tried the combinations 1930, 1931, 1932 and 1933. After an hour, I tried 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937 and then, just before I went to bed, I tried 1938 and 1339 but I couldn't get the briefcase open. There's a good chance that my briefcase has a different code to
Emily's. There's also a good chance that ArthurMan's cryptic clues have nothing to do with the briefcases whatsoever.

I'm going to go back home tomorrow, I don't feel safe here and I'm getting nowhere.

I think it's safe to assume that Dicky and Harrison, wherever they are, have also received a mysterious briefcase. For now I'm going to sit back, read over our notes and wait for one of the three of them to contact me.
